RetroPal ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected and used when you use the RetroPal application.

1. Game Files and Local Storage

RetroPal requires storage access to load user-provided game files and to store save data (SRAM) locally on your device.

All game files remain on your device unless you choose to enable cloud backup.

2. Google Sign-In (Optional)

RetroPal offers optional Google Sign-In to enable cloud backup features.

When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information such as:

Your Google account email address
A unique account identifier

This information is used solely to authenticate your account and enable Google Drive backup functionality. We do not sell or share your account information.

3. Google Drive Backup (Optional)

If you enable cloud backup, save files may be stored in your personal Google Drive account.

These files:

Are stored in your own Google Drive
Are accessible only to you
Are not stored on our servers

You may revoke access at any time via your Google account settings.

4. RetroAchievements (Optional)

If you log in to RetroAchievements, your username and API key are used solely to connect securely to the RetroAchievements service via HTTPS.

We do not store your RetroAchievements credentials on our servers.

5. Advertising

RetroPal displays advertisements through Google AdMob.

AdMob may collect:

Advertising ID
Device identifiers
Usage data
IP address
Approximate location

This data is processed according to Google’s Privacy Policy.

You may reset or disable your advertising ID in your device settings.

6. Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and improve performance.

Firebase may collect:

Device information
App usage events
Crash reports
Anonymous identifiers

This data helps improve stability and user experience.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data.

Information may be processed by trusted third-party providers (Google Play Services, AdMob, Firebase, RetroAchievements) solely to provide app functionality.

8. Children's Privacy

RetroPal is not directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us.

9. Security

All communications with Google, Firebase, and RetroAchievements use secure HTTPS connections.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

Request deletion
Revoke permissions
